Artificial Neural Networks and Support Vector Machine for Voice Disorders Identification

چکیده
The diagnosis of voice diseases through the invasive medical techniques is an efficient way but it is often uncomfortable for patients, therefore, the automatic speech recognition methods have attracted more and more interest recent years and have known a real success in the identification of voice impairments. In this context, this paper proposes a reliable algorithm for voice disorders identification based on two classification algorithms; the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and the Support Vector Machine (SVM). The feature extraction task is performed by the Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and their first and second derivatives. In addition, the Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) is proposed as feature selection procedure in order to enhance the discriminative ability of the algorithm and minimize its complexity. The proposed voice disorders identification system is evaluated based on a widespread performance measures such as the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision and Area Under Curve (AUC). Keywords—Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR); Pathological voices; Artificial Neural Networks (ANN); Support Vector Machine (SVM); Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA); Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC)

Prediction of true critical temperature and pressure of binary hydrocarbon mixtures: A Comparison between the artificial neural networks and the support vector machine
Two main objectives have been considered in this paper: providing a good model to predict the critical temperature and pressure of binary hydrocarbon mixtures, and comparing the efficiency of the artificial neural network algorithms and the support vector regression as two commonly used soft computing methods. In order to have a fair comparison and to achieve the highest efficiency, a comprehen...
متن کاملApplication of Artificial Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines for carbonate pores size estimation from 3D seismic data
This paper proposes a method for the prediction of pore size values in hydrocarbon reservoirs using 3D seismic data. To this end, an actual carbonate oil field in the south-western part ofIranwas selected. Taking real geological conditions into account, different models of reservoir were constructed for a range of viable pore size values. Seismic surveying was performed next on these models. F...
متن کاملEstimation of Iron concentration by using a support vector machineand an artificial neural network - the case study of the Choghart deposit southeast of Yazd, Yazd, Iran
Estimation of the metal value in the metallic deposits is one of the important factors to evaluate the deposits in exploration studies andmineral processing. Therefore, one accurate estimator is essential to obtain a fine insight into the accumulation of the ore body. Thereare geostatistical methods for the estimation of the concentration of iron which performance of these models is complexity ...
متن کاملArtificial Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines for Parkinson Disease Detection using Human Voice
Artificial neural network(ANN) with tansig, logsig and purelin transfer function, support vector machines(SVM), linear and quadratic classifiers are used in this work for the detection of Parkinson disease using voice features. In the Parkinson disease, voice of a person changes because of presence of tremor in the voicebox muscles. Total 195 phonations were used for the analysis from twenty th...
متن کاملBubble Pressure Prediction of Reservoir Fluids using Artificial Neural Network and Support Vector Machine
Bubble point pressure is an important parameter in equilibrium calculations of reservoir fluids and having other applications in reservoir engineering. In this work, an artificial neural network (ANN) and a least square support vector machine (LS-SVM) have been used to predict the bubble point pressure of reservoir fluids. Also, the accuracy of the models have been compared to two-equation stat...
